Scene soundtrack analysis

Don't Be a Menace South Central While Drinking Your Juice - 1996
'Do We Have a Problem' scene:

Music:

At 20 seconds dramatic non diegetic music is played to build tension leaving the audience questioning what might happen next as Ashtray is confronted. The tempo slightly increases, adding to this effect before it stops at 45 seconds where it is obvious they are no longer in danger. Also the music has a sound bridge as the it continues across transitions before it ends.

Incidental/Ambient:

From the beginning of the scene until the music is heard there are ambient sounds in the background of the city and transport to create a normal/everyday tone.
However after, the ambient background noises are overpowered by dialogue and sound effects until 1 minute in, where they continue. This is so when they are not heard, something important is happening that they want the audience to focus on.

Dialogue:

There is almost constant dialogue apart from few seconds and laughs are heard from Toothpick's boys at 41 seconds to show that they think they're better or more powerful.
Each characters voice tells us a bit about themselves, for example Ashtray speaks at a normal tone and pace as he is the more normal character, Loc Dog speaks energetically and quick just like his personality and Toothpick has a high pitched voice to show that he isn't as tough as he's made out to be.

Sound effects:

In this scene there are not many sound effects however there are a few sounds edited in.
For example there are equipment noises at 34 seconds to emphasise and draw attention to Loc Dog's equipment and guns around his waist. Also there are hyper real mechanical movement noises edited in as the rocket moves around at 49 seconds and just before an engine noise is edited in at around 12 seconds to hint someone is approaching as it stands out from the ambient noises of the scene.
